Livia Santana is a public prosecutor for the State Public Prosecutor's Office of Bahia, serving since 2004. Since 2015, she has been working in the Prosecutor's Office for Combating Racism and Religious Intolerance, as well as for the Defense of Traditional Communities and Racial Quotas. She holds a PhD in Legal and Political Sciences from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, a Master's degree in Public Law from the Federal University of Bahia, and a specialization in Afro-Latin American and Caribbean Studies from the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO).
She is the co-author of the book "A Justiça é uma mulher negra" (Justice is a Black Woman), published by Letramento (Black Women Jurists Collection), and the author of the book "Cotas Raciais" (Racial Quotas), published by Jandaíra (Plural Feminisms Collection). Dr. Vaz coordinates the Working Group on Combating Racism and Promoting Respect for Ethnic and Cultural Diversity under the Commission for the Defense of Fundamental Rights of the National Council of the Public Prosecutor's Office (since 2018). She also serves as a reviewer for the Revista Brasileira de Ciências Criminais (Brazilian Journal of Criminal Sciences) and the Revista do Conselho Nacional de Justiça (Journal of the National Council of Justice).
